Nowadays anyone with some interest in the PlayStation Move should know who Anton Mikhailov is. Or at least what he looks like. But this is not the first time we have seen the young Sony researcher.

Do you remember where and when we have seen him before?

The answer awaits after the jump.

Hint: The PlayStation Move motion controller is not the only Sony project he has been involved with.

The ultimate PlayStation Move tech demos video

The PlayStation Blog has published a nice PlayStation Move video featuring all the latest tech demos explained by Sony's R&D researcher Anton Mikhailov.

While there is nothing new to be seen there for those who have been keeping up with all the Move stuff, it's still a convenient all-in-one-place tech demos collection worth a check. Especially since it's mostly made of direct feed footage rather than off-screen material.

Check the video after the jump.

Stop wondering: the Navigation controller does NOT have motion sensing capablities (nor does it rumble) [UPDATED]

View Comments

I admit I've never been 100% sure myself, but since Sony never listed rumble and motion sensing functionalities among the official Navigation controller key features, I was about 99.9% positive the little Move companion would end up being an empty shell with buttons and a stick on it (and a built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery of course).

Well, now we have got an official confirmation.

R.U.S.E. Senior Producer: "Move experience is better than mouse and keyboard"

Eurogamer has published an interview with Mathieu Girard, senior producer for the upcoming Ubisoft RTS R.U.S.E., in which he describes the experience of playing the game with the PlayStation Move motion controller as "better than on PC with mouse and keyboard because you can play on a couch, really relaxed, and you don't have to get close to your screen, and you don't have to make large movements".

iWonder: "First Person Adventure/RPG" by SSJNeBiRoS

The game would be similar in style to Oblivion, Dark Messiah and this type of games. The setting is not necessary to be from the middle ages. It could be anything, but should always give prominence to melee weapons like swords, axes, and others. Although this does not leave out the long-range weapons like bows or magic, or if it's a more modern era, guns, like in Red Steel 2.

Ten PlayStation classics worth a "moving" reboot

View Comments

Since the announcement of the PlayStation Move motion controller many of you have likely been wondering about specific games that would benefit from its implementation, with titles like Okami, Ratchet & Clank or Demons' Souls probably at the top of your collective wish list (and hopefully on the To-Do lists of their respective publishers).

While these games would definitely benefit from some PlayStation Move magic, perhaps there is an opportunity here to exploit the PlayStation Move as something more than an enhancement tool.

How about using it as a mean to reboot some forgotten PlayStation games?

Today, the European PlayStation Blog has posted a video interview with Dr. Richard Marks showing the father of the PlayStation Move performing some of the most brutal Move sphere squeezing action ever seen.

No face tracking in The Shoot

I have been sitting on this bit of info for a while now, unsure whether or not to make it public due to the state of the build I've personally tested (it's the old E3 demo).

But today, having double checked with people who have got the latest demo version of The Shoot, I can finally say with confidence that the game doesn't support any kind of body/face tracking technology.

All evasive maneuvers are performed by simply moving the motion controller around.

iWonder: "FPS with Fixed-Crosshair" by Cake

Developers won't do it! Why not? Well, the problem seems to stem from the fact that your character doesn't have a way to turn 360's, 720's, etc. Our wrists can only go so far, and there's no way - like with a mouse - to "lift" the controller and reset it.

Model Creation
You can use your face to map it to a virtual reality model or just choose any other face types. Then with various tools you can modify it, blur any defects etc. Must have an extensive character creation setup where you can pretty much make any face you want from any race with intuitive tools that are fun to use. If you are going to spend a long time creating the perfect model then the tools should be satisfying.

We talk to the team behind one of the most ambitious PSN titles to date.

Think an original RTS game with native 1080p graphics, extensive PlayStation Move support, split-screen and online cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes (with video chat), replay recording and YouTube-uploading, photo mode, custom soundtracks and an in-game editor so deep it's the one the developers themselves use to build the game.

That's how ambitious it is.

iWonder: "Needle Threader" by Spats

Since the Move is capable of sub-pixel accuracy in tracking your motion, why not put it to the real test and make a game/demo where you try to thread a needle using it? The objective would be very simple - getting your Move controller through the needle's eye and making a knot as quickly as possible.

Ever since Sony showed the first technical demo of the Move at E309, especially the one of the sword and shield (which then turned out to be part of the Sports Champions), I have always thought that it could be very interesting to create a game like Demon's Souls controlled with the Move, where the Navigation controller is used to control the movement of the character, while the Move itself controls the weapon.

The wand would be a great controller to simulate casting a rod and the genre has been absolutely dismal this gen.

What we usually refer to as "augmented reality" is stuff like EyePet: games where our reality is "augmented" by having virtual objects interact with it. That all happens on screen tho, using video feed from the PlayStation Eye camera over which digital imagery is imposed.

Now, how about another way of doing this? How about interacting with game elements which are actually placed in our real world?
