As reported about ten days ago on this very blog, the demo disc coming with the PlayStation Move Starter Pack is going to offer samples of "about 10" games. Back then, we only knew 3 of them. Today, we know them all (which are actually 9).

Today is a sad day for SOCOM fans as well as for those who have been looking forward to some hardcore PlayStation Move military action by the end of this year.

SOCOM 4, in fact, has been officially delayed into 2011, the developer has confirmed via the franchise's official blog

Please be StarCraft II...

Blizzard Entertainment's VP Michael Ryder told MVC today that the company is "up-to-speed" on console platforms and wouldn't mind developing a game for such WOW-less unworthy machines.

Meaning? Meaning perhaps that a PS3/PlayStation Move version of StarCraft II is not totally banned from the Realm of The Amazing Possibilities.

Sweeping XMB navigation with PlayStation Move

This is one of those little Move things everybody should know by now but yet some people are actually unaware of. Not their fault tho, as Sony didn't really expose the following functionality too much in the months since the PlayStation Move official unveiling. Despite it being kinda awesome.

Heavy Rain: How it controls with PlayStation Move

Nick Chester from Destructoid has shared his impressions upon having played some Heavy Rain with the PlayStation Move motion controller. More specifically, he played for about 15 minutes across two of the most "action packed" sequences from the game: Shelby's fight with the biker at Lauren Winter's place and Madison's struggle with mysterious attackers in the nightmare scene.

Until Dawn a PlayStation Move title?

View Comments

As you might remember, last April Sony Computer Entertainment of America filed a trade mark for the name "Until Dawn" along with a vague description that read like this: "providing a real-time computer game for others that may be accessed over global and local area computer networks by network users".

Today, thanks to a reliable source, iWaggle3D can add its own piece to the puzzle by letting you know that Until Dawn is apparently going to support the PlayStation Move.

In anticipation of the PlayStation Move launch in their respective regions scheduled for September 15th, the Asian divisions of Sony Computer Entertainment have issued press releases detailing prices, bundles and upcoming titles.

About that, amid the already known games, there are actually three new entries mentioned. One of them being the PlayStation Move compatible version of the quite entertaining and successful (2 million copies sold thus far across various platforms) Flight Control by Firemint (mock-up picture above).

Sony RayModeler: 360° autostereoscopic 3D display prototype

First demonstrated in Japan last October at Ceatec 2009, the Sony 360° autostereoscopic 3D display prototype known as "RayModeler" is going to be showcased for the first time in USA at the upcoming SIGGRAPH event (Los Angeles, July 25-29).

The announcement comes with a video illustrating the device characteristics as well as its potential applications. Gaming is one of those, of course, and the PS3 is featured in the video as a compatible device (wait, don't hold your breath yet).

The price is right for The Sly Collection

Sony Computer Entertainment of America today announced via the PlayStation Blog that The Sly Collection will be available this fall for $39.99 (same launch price as the God of War Collection).

Interestingly, the blog post also states that 3D support will be available in all the three HD-remastered games included in the collection, namely Sly Cooper and The Thievius Raccoonus, Sly 2: Band of Thieves and Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves. Up until now, only the latter was supposed to be offering a stereoscopic 3D mode (as the official product page still states at the time of writing). Hopefully we are not looking at some mistake here.

New PlayStation Move tech demos

Sony has been holding some PlayStation Move press events around the world these days, showing off the device capabilities along with new tech demos.

Tips about what is actually been shown reached iWaggle3D thirsty ears about a week ago, but couldn't report about them due to some issues we shouldn't elaborate more.

Anyways, thanks to the guys at Dualshockers we can now freely talk about it here. With a supporting video as well!

A look at some third party PlayStation Move accessories

As the PlayStation Move approaches its September release, dedicated third party accessories are starting to infiltrate stores catalogs, offering alternatives to the official ones or solutions Sony doesn't provide.

Below you can find an early collection of such parasitic goods compiled as I stumbled upon them while looking at various online stores. I have omitted the rather uninteresting 3rd party jackets and charging stations in order to focus on the most interesting, useful or downright odd propositions currently on offer.

This is according to a Sony press release I stumbled upon recently, but which was actually released almost a month ago, during E3 2010 (slipped under my radar, sorry).

I understand you don't like to read old news here, so I'll add a bit of freshness to it.

The mini-event started last Saturday and will run till August 31st.

Top 10 PlayStation Move myths debunked

For this being labeled as the Information Era there is quite a bit of disinformation circulating around the upcoming PlayStation Move controller.

So much indeed, that despite the amount of official data, interviews and impressions available all over the Internet, erroneous assumptions or convictions still emerge in forums discussions. And the controller launch is just two months away!

Feeling the needed to try and amend this, I have put together the most common myths about the PlayStation Move technology I've stumbled upon in the last couple of weeks. To debunk them. Or rectify them. Or to just give them a positive spin. You decide.

Warning: it's a long read.

As the PlayStation Move approaches store shelves, it looks like more and more media outlets are having hands-on times with the first bunch of titles from the comfy of their private sofas. (iWaggle3D should join the waggling party soon, by the way)

Few days ago iWaggle3D reported (good) impressions about the PlayStation Move support in Ubisoft's RTS game R.U.S.E. Today, NowGamer shares its early opinion about the wand implementation in the pool simulator Hustle Kings.

And again, it all sounds good.

Move priced for profit (and kind on system resources)

View Comments

As you may know, console systems are usually priced lower than what they cost to produce in order to promote adoption and increase software sales. Console manufacturers make profit through royalties generated via those software sales.

Now, one might think this strategy also applies to the PlayStation Move controller as well since, despite being a peripheral for the PS3 system, it's actually a new platform for developers to work on. One that Sony wants to put in as many consumer hands as possible. In the grand scheme of all things that eventually make money, it would make sense for them to sell it at loss. But apparently, this is not the case.

Ubisoft believes in 3D

Speaking to Eurogamer, Ubisoft marketing boss Murray Pannel expressed faith is the mainstream success of 3D technology. More specifically, he's confident that 3D sets will be in everybody's home in 3 years time.
"The truth is I think it is a technology that's coming. We can't ignore it. It'll start slowly this year. But like HDTV I wouldn't rule out the fact that this will be installed in everyone's living room in three year's time, and for us to be in a position to have content that could really look absolutely amazing in 3D."

R.U.S.E. Move support impressions ("PS3 the go to console for RTS games")

The lucky guys at Electricpig have had some sweet hands-on time with some PlayStation Move games in development at Ubisoft. Namely, the tennis game Racket Sports (PS3 port of the Wii version released last March) and the real time strategy game R.U.S.E. (recently confirmed to be supporting Move as an alternative mean to strategize death of WWII soldiers from the sofa).

PS Move: "second de facto controller for the PS3"

That's how Sony sees it. Or apparently, has seen it since "many many years ago".

In fact, going by what President and Group CEO of Sony Entertainment Kaz Hirai said during an interview with Telegraph, the PlayStation Move controller (as well as 3D support for PS3) have been subject of internal discussions within Sony for that much (vaguely long) time.

Echochrome ii - Light the way

Announced during E3 2010, Echochrome ii is the sequel to the brain-melting-perspective-shifter-puzzle published on PS3 and PSP via the PlayStation Store back in 2008. This one, for the unaware.

Built for the PlayStation Move controller from the ground up, it asks you to pretend you are pointing a flashlight towards on-screen shapes in order to cast appropriate shadows on the walls for the shadow character to follow. The point is to make it so that he reaches the goal.

Tumble - Hands through the screen

View Comments

You know why Tumble (a simple puzzle game that basically asks you to play with shapes as you did when you were a 2 years kid) is interesting (despite the above description)? Because it basically combines the best qualities of the high precision 1:1 Move tech with the depth perception you get from stereoscopic 3D.

Tumble, in fact, supports both.

Move support confirmed for R.U.S.E.

"The PlayStation 3 version of real-time strategy game R.U.S.E. will support PlayStation Move, Ubisoft has confirmed. The publisher showed off Move with the PS3 version of the multi-platform WWII RTS today at a hands-on event in London. Using the Move device as a pointer, players can select units, build structures and pan the camera. Selecting an area on the map and pointing the controller down zooms the camera in. Pointing upwards moves the camera out. A flick to the right brings up a menu on the left hand side of the screen. Another flick takes you out of the menu."
